Every Lofqu piece is made in one of three solid woods. Each has its own colour, grain and temperament, and the right choice depends on the room, the light and how you live. Here is how we help clients decide.
Forest Teak: golden and unshakeable
Teak is Kerala’s own wood. Its natural oils make it one of the most stable timbers in humid climates, which is why it has been used in boats, temple doors and tharavad furniture for centuries. The grain is straight and fine, and the colour deepens from golden to honey over the years.
- Best for sofas, dining tables and anything you want to hand down
- Handles monsoon humidity better than almost any other wood
- Looks warm in both traditional and modern rooms
Mahogany: rich and a little formal
Mahogany has a deep red-brown colour and a fine, interlocked grain that takes a polish beautifully. It feels quietly dramatic, and it suits bedrooms, studies and dining rooms where you want a sense of occasion.
- Best for beds, dining tables and statement pieces
- Pairs well with brass, cane and deep fabrics
- Takes darker finishes evenly
Ash: light, springy and modern
Ash is pale, open-grained and surprisingly strong. It bends well, so we use it for steam-bent chair backs and slender legs. It makes small rooms feel brighter and suits Scandinavian-inspired interiors.
- Best for chairs, desks and light, airy rooms
- Shows the grain beautifully under a natural finish
- Keep it away from damp walls in the monsoon
