Solid wood is a living material. It breathes with the seasons, swelling a little in the humid months and settling again when the air dries. A few simple habits keep it stable and beautiful for decades.
Give it air
Keep pieces a few centimetres away from walls, especially exterior walls that get damp during heavy rain. Open windows on dry days and avoid covering furniture with plastic, which traps moisture.
Watch the sun
Harsh afternoon sun can fade finishes and dry out the surface. Use curtains or blinds in west-facing rooms, and rotate cushions and decor so the colour changes evenly.
Wipe, don’t soak
- Dust with a soft, dry cloth every week
- Wipe spills straight away with a slightly damp cloth, then dry
- Use coasters and mats under hot, cold and wet things
- Avoid silicone sprays and harsh cleaners
Once a year
Re-oil or re-wax oiled finishes to keep the wood nourished. Lacquered finishes only need a gentle furniture polish. If you notice anything unusual, WhatsApp us a photo — our warranty covers solid-wood frames and joinery for life.
